Why I Said “No” To Yoga Pants

As you know, I have a beef with yoga pants.  Sure, there are women who can rock them, but I see too many yoga pants fails on a daily basis to brave them except to yoga class– and then only with serious strategizing.

My favorite alternative?? The ActiveWear Dress

The activewear dress is a low-maintenance alternative that is feminine and fashionable for workouts *and* for daily wear.  I walk, run, golf, and parent in my activewear dress. A few tips for choosing the right dress:

— Triangle,  Rectangle, and Oval body types tend to look best in a dress that has cap or short sleeves.

— Inverted triangles and hourglass body types look great in sleeveless options. Rectangles can pull them off if the straps are wider and rest close to the shoulder’s edge.

— Scoop or V-necks look best on women over a “C” cup. The closer The Girls appear to the collar bone, the slimmer and younger you appear.   In fact, I can’t figure out why designers rely so heavily on crew necks since the majority of women #Over40 fall into this category.

— Wicking fabric is your friend.  Wicking fabrics absorb moisture and help it evaporate so you don’t look like a wet mop 20 minutes into your workout.

— If you’re golfing or doing other activities that require lots of bending or kneeling (or it’s just a windy day), throw on a pair of spandex runners shorts underneath to avoid a wardrobe malfunction.

Love these dresses! I wear active dresses and skirts around to keep cool during our hot summers. I do love yoga pants though, but I wear them under the appropriate tunic-length top. Can’t wear these dresses in winter here 🙂
